About CompressGIFs

CompressGIFs exists because "compress this GIF until it actually fits" is a much narrower problem than most compression tools treat it as. Discord has a size limit for emoji. So does Slack. So does WhatsApp, Telegram, and X — and every one of those limits is different, and none of them tell you how close you are until the upload fails.

Most GIF tools hand you a quality slider and leave the guessing to you: drag it, export, check the file size, and if it's still too big, do it again. This site works the other way around. You say what size you need — or pick the platform you're uploading to — and the tool searches for settings that land under that number on its own.

Everything here runs locally in your browser using WebAssembly. There's no upload step, no account, and no server processing your files, which is also why there's no limit on file size or how many GIFs you can run through it at once. The tools work the same way with the network disconnected as they do online.

This is a small, independently built project focused specifically on GIFs — compressing them, resizing them, converting them, and checking them against the exact upload rules of the platform they're headed to. Not a general file-conversion hub, on purpose.
